KLF is the first literary retreat festival of the country, held in a mountain village. It is also the country's first travelling literary event. A not-for-profit initiative, KLF brings together celebrated authors, respected thought leaders and opinion makers of the country to Te Aroha, located in Dhanachuli, an enchanting little village in the Himalayas. In 2022, the festival will travel to Goa (14-15 May). The festival is conceptualised as an innovative and unusual event where rich and deep discussions are held in a relaxed setting.
The Kumaon Literary Festival combines creative energy and a commitment to the local community that lasts through the year. It can become a model for other such endeavours which sometimes treat the festival as a spectacle.
To attend and speak at the first Kumaon Literary Festival was an amazing experience for me. It was a very poignant and beautiful setting in which to speak about my debut novel. I met and listened to many inspirational writers and experts from around the globe. It is an experience I shall never forget!
One of the cosiest literary festivals I have ever attended; by the end of it, participants feel like they belong to a close-knit family.
