KLF is the traveling literary retreat festival of the country. A not-for-profit initiative, KLF brings together celebrated authors, poets, thought leaders and opinion makers of the country to celebrate art, culture and literature. It started in the year 2015 from Te Aroha, located in Dhanachuli, an enchanting little village in the Kumaon hills of Himalayas. It has since travelled to other locations, the previous edition being in Goa on 14-15 May, 2022. For its 4th edition, Kumaon Literary Festival is traveling to Kashmir (18-20 October, 2022).
The Kumaon Literary Festival combines creative energy and a commitment to the local community that lasts through the year. It can become a model for other such endeavours which sometimes treat the festival as a spectacle.
To attend and speak at the first Kumaon Literary Festival was an amazing experience for me. It was a very poignant and beautiful setting in which to speak about my debut novel. I met and listened to many inspirational writers and experts from around the globe. It is an experience I shall never forget!
One of the cosiest literary festivals I have ever attended; by the end of it, participants feel like they belong to a close-knit family.
